What is Thanksgiving Week?
The purpose of this Week of Thanksgiving towards the end of the year is to look back and acknowledge the blessings that God has poured out upon us during the last year, and to celebrate the variety of blessings which exist within us as a community of many gifts, ages and experiences.
Our desire is to build this Week of Thanksgiving into our community culture. Thanksgiving for God’s call, God’s presence amongst us and God sending us out on mission needs to be part of the core character of Emmanuel.
Thanksgiving Week Events
A number of events are happening during the week. Some of them are regular events, to which we can add a flavour of thanksgiving; others are special Thanksgiving Week events.
Please consider which of these events you are able to participate in during the week.

Thanksgiving Candle
This year, every family or household will receive a Thanksgiving Candle. We invite you to set aside some time this week to celebrate at least one event around the candle - a meal, a time of prayer, an open house... whatever will best suit your family or household. You may also consider inviting another family or household to celebrate the event with you!
As you pray and celebrate around your candle, you are praying and celebrating alongside all of your brothers and sisters in Emmanuel.
You are also encouraged to bring your Candle to any community events you attend during the week - especially the Thanksgiving Eucharist on Sunday 22 November as they will be used during the Mass.
