    COMMUNITY RETREAT
    "Fighting for our Future: Returning to our Foundation"

    Fr Dan Benetti mgl facilitated our Community Retreat day for members and friends of Emmanuel. It was a fantastic day as we focussed together on God's call for us and what this means for us as we live that call today.

    Sanctuary
    SANCTUARY WOMENS CONFERENCE

    Mt Alvernia College

    Sanctuary is a new conference for women, hosted by the HEART2hearts ministry and held for the first time in May 2010. It was an opportunity for women of all ages and from all walks of life to come together to experience ‘sanctuary’ and explore how to bring sanctuary into our lives. The conference includee keynote sessions, workshop electives, times of prayer and reflection and opportunities to experience sisterhood.

    Emmaus Centre for Renewal & Evangelisation

    The School of Preaching was a module of the School of Mission designed to equip men and women, both young and old, with skills to share the Gospel.

    The keynote presenters were Fr Ken Barker mgl, Shayne Bennett, Jan Heath, Robert Falzon, Shanelle Bennett, Pat Keady and Bec Crouch.

    CREAM RETREAT: "Spirituality in the Second Part of our Life"
    Wednesday 24 February 2010 @ St Peter Chanel Parish, The Gap
     
    A one day retreat for retired members and friends of the Community, conducted by Fr Chris Gleeson SJ and focussed on our spiritual journey and relationship with God as we age and face new challenges arising from our changing pace of life, our heath, mobility and financial resources.

    Emmanuel continued its annual Australia Day celebration, which included the traditional north/south cricket match, an Australian poem/song competition and a thong throwing competiton.

    Maranatha Recreation Camp, Yandina
     
    Our annual teenage summer camp was another great success with 160 teenagers and 40 leaders taking part. The camp included live music, inspiring speakers, crazy outdoor games and a whole lot of fun and faith!

    THE BEAT SCHOOL OF MUSIC
    8 - 12 January 2010
    St Laurence's College, South Brisbane
     
    A week-long program of hands-on training and formation in contemporary Catholic worship, conducted by emmanuelworship. The goal of the School of Music is to inspire, equip and raise up a new generation of worship leaders and musicians for the Church of the 21st Century.

    SCHOOL OF MISSION LECTURE SERIES

    Series: "The Mission of the Church in Australia"
    Speaker: Bishop Michael Putney
    Bishop Michael gave several excellent presentations in this series, with over a hundred people attending throughout the series:
    • "The Sacraments in the Mission of the Church", exploring the relationship between Sacraments and Catholic evangelisation
    • "A Pathway to the Future", exploring the direction of the Church post-WYD.

    Maranatha Recreation Camp, Yandina
    Over 80 young adults gathered for this life-transforming weekend. This camp was held for the first time this year, but will become an annual event.

    Stations
    STATIONS OF THE CROSS
    Good Friday 10 April
    10:00-12:30pm @ Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens
    Close to 200 people of all ages participated in EYO's 9th annual Stations of the Cross event at Mt Coot-tha Gardens. We walked throughout the Gardens - in hot sun and pouring rain - while carrying a large cross and reflecting upon Jesus' journey and passion. Each station was organised and run by young people.

    EMPOWER 09 CONFERENCE: "BE HEALED"
    20-22 March 2009
    Keynote Speaker: Fr Ken Barker mgl
    The conference was an insightful experience of keynote sessions with Fr Ken Barker, dynamic praise and worship led by emmanuelworship, Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and opportunity to receive healing and prayer ministry.
    Many people were blessed and experienced God's love in a renewed way during the conference.

    PILGRIMAGE TO WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008, SYDNEY
    Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20 July 2008
    World Youth Day was an incredible celebration of faith. Close to 100 young people participated in our pilgrimage to WYD, with many of our group involved in facilitating sessions at a Catechesis site and performing during the festival events.

    It was an honour for Emmanuel Community to host Youth Arise 08 in Brisbane. Youth Arise was an incredible festival experience connected with World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney, with over 800 young people participating from over 20 countries.
